This promotion was founded long ago by Ken Action Lawrence's uncle, little know promoter Truman Beaufort. I was a small territory that had five reoccurring show's in different areas around Lancashire. These promotions would often come together, pool there resources and put on showcases, touring the territories surrounding Lancashire, as well as in Scotland and Ireland. The shows would often be in hot, smelly, crowded tents, which gave the shows a carnival-like feel. In those days wrestlers in Lancashire wrestled primarily in shoots and for that reason Beaufort's promotions had a reputation for being stiff.
In the 1970's Truman's son George took over and the style changed, wrestlers competed in 4 five minute rounds, closed fist punches and kicks to the head were legalized, and as a result matches became quite more gruesome. It was during this time that Ken Acton got his start, and the major draw of that day was Robert Borden or as he is know, Bobbie "The Bomber" Borden. During a match between Ken and Bobby, Ken legitimately punched his opponent in the ear, bursting his eardrum and causing him to bleed profusely. This prompted one young spectator to stand and shout " Dat's no rezzlin'! Dat's bleedin' carnage, init! From that day forth, the show put on by Ken's promoter has been called Pro Wrestling Carnage.
During the 80's and 90's more fans were exposed to American promotions, and as a result, favored the American style. More and more feds popped up that emulated this style and our promotion suffered, finally folding in 1995. Ken and a few faithfuls stayed in Lancashire, opening a school and in '98 when George died, Ken took over. He trained young wrestlers, and used his personal wealth, to put on small showcases at the local auditorium.
In the the first decade of the 2000's Ken went out working in the United States where he stumbled upon a small but rapidly expanding federation called God's and Heretic's Wrestling. He wrestled there for a while, before returning to England; ultimately, his training methods, would through his pupil Raj KimPO, produce some of GHW's biggest stars.
After his return to the UK, Ken would use money saved from GHW to start back full time promoting. The results are Ken Acton Promotions. The new company is very traditional, and uses aspects from both the British and American styles to appeal to a small group of fans. They are popular for their stiff brand of wrestling, that employs closed fist punches, head kicks, pressure point, and choke holds. All wrestled in a small arena with no padding on the concert floor out side the ring.
Funded by Raj KimPO, who is extremely wealthy, Ken has been able to afford a large screen, a grade A sound system, and permanently hire a small stock of workers and talent, all while maintaining the Lancashire Wrestling School. Looking to go global and be able to compete with American based federations, Ken has recently went on a recruiting drive.
